Bioshock: Infinite

The Game

The third title into the Bioshock universe and tops them all off. Bioshock Infinite is about a man name Book DeWitt who has got in with the people and now owes them money. They've made a deal that his debt will be repaid if he goes to Columbia and finds a girl by the name Elizabeth and bring her back to New York. And this background sets up for one one of the best games of 2013.

Story/Setting

Over all the story is very solid. Set in 1912 during the growth of American execptionalism. Columbia is a fictional city suspended in the air through a combination of "quantum levitation", giant blimps and balloons. Columbia was revealed to be a well-armed battleship, and became involved in an "international incident" by firing upon a group of Chinese civilians during the Boxer Rebellion in 1901. By the times of the game's events, racial tensions have risen to the point where Columbia is on the verge of civil war, waged by the ruling "Founders"  and the insurgent "Vox Populi". two factions of opposing ideologies.

Gameplay

Like Bioshock and Bioshock 2, Bioshock Infinite  is a first-person shooter with role-playing elements. In contrast to the limited spaces of rapture in precious Bioshock games, the expanded environment of Columbia provides for more dynamic challenges in Infinite. Booker gains powers and abilities through Vigors, Gears, and Infusions, all scattered around Columbia. Vigors, the equivalent of Bioshock's Plasmids, grant activated powers such as creating shockwaves, releasing volts of electricity, and machine/human possession. Vigors require Salts, the equivalent of Bioshock's EVE, for powering their abilities.

Is it worth it?

Over all, yes it's worth it. The only downside is that the game can get frustrating, but it is worth it. The game is amazing. It takes a little bit of time to get into the game, but once you're into it it's amazing.
